Hallelujah -- you don't need a special-use permit to convert this historic church into your home, business, or congregation, as there's no city or county zoning to worry about here. This building, known as Colchester's 2nd First Christian Church (the original burned down), was dedicated in 1908 and had an addition built in 1956. The sanctuary features beautiful stained-glass windows, a gently sloping floor, and a ceiling 19 feet tall at its peak. The rest of the main level includes space for a living room, kitchen, and two offices or bedrooms. Downstairs you'll find a full basement with a bathroom, laundry hookups, and more places to tuck away your collectables than in the biggest storage unit in McDonough County. After the church congregation relocated in 1977, this building has seen new life as an antique and thrift store.
